Wirsing with bacon in a cream sauce – homemade and just so delicious

- For the Wirsing:
- 1000 g
Wirsing cabbage (normal / large cabbage)
- 125 g
Bacon - diced
- 1
Onion – diced
- 1 Tbsp
Garlic – diced
- 200 ml
cream
- 1 tbsp
Oil
- 100 ml
Vegetable-Broth
Nutmeg
Salt
Pepper
Preparation:
And so you quickly and easily do a creamwirsing yourself:- Prepare the wirsing: Cut the cabbage and the leaves into small pieces or strips. Then wash the wirsing thoroughly and drain it.
- Fry bacon and onion : In a pot, sauté the bacon cubes over medium heat until they are slightly crispy. Then add the finely chopped onion and garlic and fry together all glassy, slightly golden brown.
- Cooking through : In the same pot, in which the bacon is added, add the oil and add the wirsing. Let it sweat quickly and stir after two to three minutes. Finally, slowly add the vegetable broth and stir well. Let it move for approx. 30 minutes to a low heat level and stir occasionally so that it does not burn.
- Add cream: Finally, stir in the cream and let everything boil briefly. Season it with salt, pepper and nutmeg and let everything stew for about 5 minutes over medium heat until the wirsing is soft and creamy.
- Serve the wirsing: You are welcome to garnish the delicious wirsing with freshly chopped parsley and serve it hot.
- Prepare the wirsing: Cut the cabbage and the leaves into small pieces or strips. Then wash the wirsing thoroughly and drain it.
Tip:
- The Wirsing can be served as a tasty supplement or even as a main dinner. We served it with only with fried potatoes – and we loved it.
